Lauren Ambrose, Harry Hadden-Paton to lead Broadway revival of 'My Fair Lady'

Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Lauren Ambrose and Harry Hadden-Paton will star as the leads of Broadway's revival of My Fair Lady.

Lincoln Center Theatre announced Thursday that Six Feet Under actress Ambrose will star as cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle, alongside Downton Abbey actor Haddon-Paton as professor Henry Higgins, in director Bartlett Sher's adaptation of the Lerner and Loewe musical, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

Two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz and Bloodline actor Norbert Leo Butz will star as Eliza Doolittle's father Alfred P. Doolittle while British actress Diana Rigg will play Henry Higgins' mother Mrs. Higgins.

The musical is scheduled to begin previews March 15 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and will open April 19, Deadline reported.

Christopher Gatelli will choreograph the musical with music direction by Ted Sperling, sets by Michael Yeargan, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Donald Holder and sound by Marc Salzberg.

My Fair Lady, which tells the story of Higgins' attempt to pass Doolittle off as an aristocrat, originally ran from 1956 through 1962.
