Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Singers Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin are lending their star power to Hurricane Maria relief efforts.

"The devastation is beyond belief," Lopez said in an Instagram video Thursday. "Me and my cousin still haven't been able to hear from our families over there. What's foremost on my mind and many others is trying to figure out the best way to help."

"Puerto Rico has been hit by two of the most devastating hurricanes we've ever seen, Irma and Maria. Today Puerto Rico needs our help. I urge you to support and donate to the efforts of the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló," she encouraged her followers. "Together we can help rebuild our island and the Caribbean."

Martin shared a similar video early Friday morning after setting up at YouCaring crowdfunding page. The 45-year-old singer personally donated $100,000 to the fund, and had helped raise an additional $41,000 as of 11 a.m.

"I need your help. Puerto Rico needs you at the moment," Martin told his 8.9 million followers. "Donate whatever you can. Just one dollar will make a difference. If everyone would give me a dollar, my goodness."

"Puerto Rico is in a precarious position at the moment. We can't do it alone. We need you," he added.

Lopez's ex-husband, singer Marc Anthony, singer Daddy Yankee and actress Rosie Perez are among the other stars who have helped raise awareness and money. Daddy Yankee asked fans to bring water and other supplies to his concert Friday.

"#Chicago bring bottles of water, repellent, diapers, first aid kids, flash lights. Drop off at my concert tonight @AragonBallroom," the "Despacito" singer tweeted.
