Carmelo Anthony celebrates La La's birthday after split: 'Love you'

June 26 (UPI) -- Carmelo Anthony sent his love to estranged wife La La Anthony on her birthday Sunday.

The 33-year-old NBA star gushed about the television personality on her 38th birthday following news of their separation.

"I look at you on this birthday, and it is hard to believe another year has passed. You are as beautiful now as ever before!!!" he captioned a photo on Instagram of La La in an embellished gown.

"Sending Birthday wishes to MY EARTH @lala Love YOU #AVeryPOWERFulDay6/26," the New York Knicks player added.

Anthony and La La married in July 2010, and share 10-year-old Kiyan. La La celebrated her birthday by bringing Kiyan to the 2017 BET Awards, where she spoke with with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet.

"He's so good at basketball, he's such a good student and just a good person," the star said of Kiyan. "He makes me very proud."

"I'm doing great," she added. "I'm working, I'm writing books, I've got a clothing line dropping at Lord & Taylor this summer. It's going be a good summer. We're always a family no matter what."

TMZ reported in April that Anthony and La La had split after nearly seven years of marriage. La La, who came to fame as an MTV VJ on Total Request Live, dedicated a friendly message to Anthony on Father's Day this month.

"Thank you for being Kiyan's hero and a great dad. He's the luckiest boy in the world. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY @carmeloanthony," she tweeted.
