CW releases first trailer for 'Riverdale' live-action 'Archie' series

The CW released the first trailer for its upcoming live action Archie comics series "Riverdale," featuring a shirtless Archie, a swimsuit clad Veronica, a brawl and an apparent murder set to a dramatic score.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- The CW showcased its new upcoming live-action Archie comics series Riverdale with a first official trailer.

The 25-second trailer features a shirtless Archie, a swimsuit-clad Veronica, a brawl and an apparent murder, set to a dramatic score.

Riverdale's pilot was picked up by the CW in February and labeled as a one-hour drama written by Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and executive produced by Greg Berlanti.

The series will feature KJ Apa as Archie, Surviving Jack star Lili Reinhart as girl-next-door Betty and Cole Sprouse of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody fame as Archie's best friend Jughead Jones.

The CW announced the series will premier on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 9 p.m ET/PT.
