LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Drew Barrymore says co-parenting after a divorce can work with "constant" planning.

The 41-year-old actress revealed how she and ex-husband Will Kopelman coordinate time with their two daughters, 4-year-old Olive and 2-year-old Frankie, in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.

"I think plans. Constant plans," Barrymore said at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles Once Upon a Time gala. "We, as a family, have three dates for this Halloween."

"It's like the best day ever," she added of the holiday. "It's the only day that's acceptable and not totally creepy to wear a mask, so God bless Halloween! I love it. It get to be an anonymous parent that night, so I'm into that!"

Barrymore revealed that Kopelman's mom has continued to show her love and inclusiveness that "means the world" to her. She and Kopelman split in April after nearly four years of marriage and finalized their divorce in August.

"When you get divorced you're like, 'I'm the biggest failure. This is the biggest failure.' It's so shameful and hard to actually go through that, even privately," the actress admitted on Chelsea in May.

"[I'm putting] one foot in front of the other," she said. "It's a tough time. It's a hard thing to go through. It's like you're being put on a cheese grater and every second going, 'Ah! This wasn't the plan!'"

Barrymore will star on the new Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet, which is slated for release in 2017. She is also executive producing several projects, including the movie Freak Show and the MTV drama Blooms.
