SYDNEY, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Bride-to-be Kylie Minogue says she won't wed until Australia legalizes same-sex marriage.

The 48-year-old singer confirmed in a tweet Wednesday that she and fiancé Joshua Sasse won't tie the knot until her home country approves marriage equality.

"Beau @joshuasasse #loveislove We can say 'I Do' when you can too," she wrote in response to the 28-year-old British actor's recent remarks on the topic.

Minogue and Sasse had helped launch the marriage equality campaign "Say I Do, Down Under" over the weekend. Singer Dolly Parton, actress Margot Robbie and television personality Kelly Ripa are among the celebrities who support the campaign.

"I found out that [gay] marriage was illegal in Australia and I was astounded," Sasse said Thursday on the Australian talk show Sunrise. "I thought if I didn't know about it, then I'm sure that there are millions of people across the world that don't."

"I simply can't fathom on any level, whether it's moral or religious or anything, that I have the right to get married and to marry the person I love and that somebody else doesn't just because of their sexual orientation. That is not what equality is all about," he asserted.

"There are chances of a Melbourne wedding, but me and Kylie have talked about it and we are not comfortable getting married until this law is passed," the star revealed. "We will not be getting married until this law is passed in Australia."

Minogue and Sasse met on the set of the actor's show Galavant in 2015 and confirmed their engagement in February. Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull plans to hold a national referendum on same-sex marriage in February 2017.
