LOS ANGELES, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Chloe Grace Moretz and boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham have reportedly called it quits.

Sources told Page Six that Beckham, the 17-year-old son of retired soccer star David Beckham and designer Victoria Beckham, has returned to London in the wake of the split.

Insiders said Moretz and Beckham were both in Los Angeles over the past few weeks but were no longer seeing each other. Beckham was recently spotted solo at The Nice Guy restaurant in West Hollywood.

Moretz had confirmed she and Beckham were officially dating in an interview with The Talk in May. The actress said they previously kept their relationship under wraps to avoid attention from the public.

"We've been off and on together for a couple years now, we just kind of made it official," she revealed at the time. "We were always running from paparazzi and running from people taking pictures of us."

Moretz and Beckham seemed the happy couple in August when Beckham said on Instagram that he was keeping the actress "safe." Moretz had recently vented, however, about how her relationship with Beckham overshadows her career.

"Seriously, you don't know how often I'm just described as 'his girlfriend,'" the Neighbors 2 star said in the September issue of Glamour U.K. "And you think, 'Well, I've been acting for 13 years, but don't worry.'"

Moretz is known for the films Kick-Ass and Carrie, and will star in the new thriller November Criminals with Ansel Elgort. She is also slated for an adaptation of the Susannah Cahalan novel Brain on Fire.
