NEW YORK, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Katy Perry feels bad for the man who was tricked into believing he had been dating the singer for eight years, saying the situation was "really unfortunate."

Appearing on SiriusXM's "The Morning Mash Up," Perry was asked about the recent Catfish episode featuring a man from Tennessee who believed he'd been dating Perry for the last six years.

Perry mentioned that a friend had sent her an article on the episode, but she hadn't read it.

"I just think it's really unfortunate," Perry said. "It's sad."

"My heart goes out to him, actually," she continued. "People live in different parts of the world where everything is not always so accessible."
