WASHINGTON, May 10 (UPI) -- Rihanna has launched a scholarship fund to aid foreign students looking to attend four-year universities in the United States.

Through her Clara Lionel Foundation, the "Work" singer will offer a range of $5,000 to $50,000 scholarships to residents of Barbados, Brazil, Cuba, Haiti, Guyana, Jamaica or the United States.

"To be able to give the gift of an education is actually an honor," the singer said to USA Today. "Higher education will help provide perspective, opportunities and learning to a group of kids who really deserve it. I am thrilled to be able to do this."

The scholarships can be renewed for up to three years during the winners' college career, and there are no specific number of grants the fund is subject to give.

The fund is operated by Scholarship Management Services, according to the fund's application page. CLF will accept full-tuition applications now through June 10, with 50 finalists screened. All winners will be announced by August, USA Today said.

Rihanna founded CLF in 2012 to honor her grandmother and grandfather Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.
