David Beckham celebrates wife Victoria on U.K. Mother's Day

LONDON, March 7 (UPI) -- David Beckham and his children celebrated Victoria Beckham on U.K. Mother's Day.

The 40-year-old retired soccer star and his 17-year-old son Brooklyn dedicated sweet posts to the 41-year-old designer Sunday on Instagram in honor of the unofficial holiday.

"17 years ago our brood started and these little ones have the most amazing mummy that they love so much," David wrote of his wife. "I love her for many reasons but the main one is because she gave me the most amazing children ... Happy mama's day as the little ones would say."

"Happy Mother's Day mum," Brooklyn captioned a photo of Victoria. "You love, protect and inspire me every day. I love you so much X."

David and Victoria married in 1999 and also share 13-year-old son Romeo, 11-year-old son Cruz and 4-year-old daughter Harper. The soccer star praised her his interview with Glamour U.K. last year, revealing they enjoy low-key dates in their spare time.

"It's always important to spend time with your partner, but the time that you spend with them, you cold just go for a walk through the park," he said. "Those moments you spend together are special. When you show each other attention, you need that."

"We've created something with our children, our family, that's very special, we've got four amazing kids," he added. "It's the little things that mean a lot, when you make time for each other, that's the important thing in a relationship."

David also celebrated his own mom, Sandra Beckham, saying she's been his "number one fan from day one." The star retired from professional soccer in 2013, while Victoria oversees her Victoria Beckham fashion label.
