LOS ANGELES, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Lady Gaga already has her future mother-in-law's approval.

Pamela Heisler, mom to actor Taylor Kinney, gushed about Lady Gaga to Entertainment Tonight at the 2016 People's Choice Awards on Wednesday. Heisler accompanied her son to the ceremony, where he won Favorite Dramatic TV Actor for Chicago Fire.

"My mother had just passed away and [Lady Gaga] came," Heisler recalled. "She was just the sweetest thing that ever was. When [Taylor] said she's coming, I said, 'No, this isn't a good time.' And she came, and she was a sweetheart. I loved her from the moment I met her."

Lady Gaga and Kinney met on the set of the singer's "You and I" music video in 2011, and got engaged in February. The actor previously discussed wedding plans with the website in October, and revealed his hopes for a "brood" of children with the star.

"I told her I don't mind doing the little white chapel thing," Kinney said. "She wants what she wants. I want to make sure that it's right and it's what she wants ... We're going to take our time and do it right."

Lady Gaga didn't attend the awards ceremony, but was nominated for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress for American Horror Story: Hotel. The singer plays Elizabeth, aka the Countess, on the FX series, and recently told V magazine she was "miserable" prior to the show.

"When I wasn't working on the show I was truly miserable because I had no safe house to get out any of my vices," she said. "Now I have a safe house for my vices so when I'm making music I just have a lot more clarity. I have a little less of an instinct to be reckless with my music now because I'm reckless in other places."

American Horror Story: Hotel airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET, and reportedly inspired Lady Gaga's forthcoming new album. The singer last released Cheek to Cheek with Tony Bennett in 2014, while Kinney continues to star as Lt. Kelly Severide on Chicago Fire.
