Obama to be featured on Jerry Seinfeld's next webisode 'Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee'

By Doug G. Ware

WASHINGTON, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama will be the subject of the next comedy webisode in Jerry Seinfeld's series Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.

Seinfeld filmed the episode earlier this month and will feature the TV funnyman and Obama driving a vintage 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray around the White House grounds. The series usually features Seinfeld and select comedians driving classic cars and wisecracking over coffee.

The commander in-chief typically isn't considered a comedian, but Seinfeld cites Obama's experience doing "stand up" during the annual White House Correspondents Dinner

"He has done some really good work as a monologist at those correspondents dinners -- that's how he qualifies to be on the show," Seinfeld told The Washington Post.

Obama has previously said Seinfeld is one of his favorite comedians. Aware of that fact, Seinfeld reportedly joked that his web series should include Obama in a future episode -- and one of the show's producers did just that.

"This was an opportunity to pull back the curtain for Americans on life in the White House," the presidential quarters said in a statement. "The president and Jerry had a unique, candid conversation that focused largely on the lighter side of the presidency."

"It was out-of-body for me," Seinfeld said. "I'm not a guy who likes honor. In fact, I hate any kind of honoring. That I get to be a comedian -- that's the honor. But this was an honor, that [Obama] was okay with me, that he trusted me to do some comedy with him in the real White House."

"Growing up in the '60s, my kid dream was always to be an astronaut -- doing a comedy show with President Obama in and around the White House felt like going into space," he added. "Being President and just a cool guy to hang out with at the same time made the experience my own personal moonwalk. It was an unforgettable day."

The episode of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee is scheduled to be available on Crackle Dec. 30.
