NEW YORK, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and the rest of The Voice cast came together for an interview on The Today Show recently where the new couple awkwardly dodged questions about their relationship.

"Is it good to just be out in the open now,?" Today's Natalie Morales asked directly to Stefani and Shelton about their now public relationship.

After a brief moment of awkward silence, co-judge Pharrell Williams jokingly quipped "That was a nice segue." before Shelton's friend Adam Levine came in to save the couple from answering the question.

"Next question! sang Levine. When Morales pressed, he continued, "Ask the next question before it gets awkward."

Shelton was however open to discussing his friendship with Levine offering up a pair of hilarious sounding songs he would use to describe their bromance.

"You know that song "That Smell"?" Shelton asked about the 1977 classic by Lynyrd Skynyrd. "Or what about "Lick It Up"?" he added, referring to a 1983 song by KISS.

Earlier this month, Shelton spoke with Entertainment Tonight about how he is thankful for Stefani for "tons of reasons," and noted how "she makes us all look a whole lot better on this show."
