NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- NBC's The Voice is signing on four additional musical powerhouses to help mentor each team for the talent show's ninth season.

According to reports, Selena Gomez will mentor Gwen Stefani's team of singers, while Brad Paisley does the same for Blake Shelton's group. Rapper Missy Elliott will aid Pharrell Williams and John Fogerty will pair with Adam Levine as a mentor.

The new mentors fall into the footsteps of those before them including Elli Goulding, Lionel Richie, Meghan Trainor, Stevie Nicks, Gavin Rossdale, and Alicia Keys.

Fogerty was chosen by Maroon 5's leading man on the show's finale, a source tells US Weekly.

Shelton's friend and Voice mentor, Paisley, comes at a tough time for the country singer. He and Miranda Lambert called it quits after four years of marriage in July; they dated for six years prior. "This is not the future we envisioned," the couple said in a statement.

Elliot -- who has worked with Aaliyah, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Beyonce and others -- is expected to be a huge asset to Pharrell's team. The two have reportedly been working on new music this year and performed together at last year's BET Awards.

Gomez may be the youngest among the incoming mentors, but at 23-years-old, the "Good For You" singer is a "surprisingly amazing mentor," according to US Weekly's reports.

The Voice returns to television on Sept. 21.
