LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Comedian Tracy Morgan missed Sunday's star-studded celebration of Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary because he's still not healthy enough to work.

The actor's lawyer, Benedict Morelli, spoke to People magazine days after he was honored by former 30 Rock co-stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin at the event, and said Morgan has been making "slow progress" in his recovery. The actor suffered a traumatic brain injury in a multi-vehicle highway crash last June.

"He's still struggling with rehab to get better," said Morelli. "He's working hard to get well."

Sources told the magazine, the actor "would have loved to have been" at the SNL celebration, "but he just isn't up for it at this point."

In addition to sustaining a brain injury, Morgan suffered broken bones and facial fractures while riding in a limo-bus involved in a six-vehicle accident. Officials say the accident was caused by a Walmart truck driver who "failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead" and "swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo" at the last minute, forcing it to overturn.

After the incident, Morgan sued Kevin Roper, the man behind the wheel of the Walmart truck.
