NEW YORK, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Pippa Middleton might soon become a special correspondent for NBC's Today show.

According to Page Six, Kate Middleton's younger sister has been in talks with NBC since her first ever television appearance aired on the network in July and she's working on a test piece that will determine if she'd be a good fit.

"'Today' has been doing a test piece with Pippa in Utah, and if it works out well -- and it looks like it will -- they will hire her as a correspondent," said the insider.

After Middleton was interviewed by Matt Lauer over the summer, sources said that "NBC, along with all the major networks" attempted to land a deal with her.

"The deal with NBC isn't done yet, but everybody is hopeful it will be done very soon," added a second source. "They want to make sure Pippa is comfortable in this role. The ratings for Pippa's interview with Matt Lauer showed she is very popular with 'Today' viewers, and she really impressed everyone at NBC."

The socialite's gig would involve working on "special reports on subjects such as lifestyle and health." Middleton covers similar subjects in her column for Britain's Waitrose Weekend magazine.
