Ariana Grande, The Who and Dave Matthews Band performed at the event, as well as Lupe Fiasco, Jennifer Hudson and Common, who together performed a remix of Fiasco's Mission, called Remission.

Remission is available to download through various digital retailers, royalties from which will be donated to the Stand Up to Cancer charity.

Also performing Friday night was comedian and actor Will Ferrell, who did a stand-up routine as his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy.

"I love Stand Up to Cancer," he said. "But we shouldn't stop there? As a society we need to stand up to Libras and Pisces and Tauruses and Capricorns"
