NEW YORK, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- The limited engagement of the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of "The Glass Menagerie" has been extended through Feb. 23, producers said.

Producers Jeffrey Richards, John N. Hart Jr. and Jerry Frankel, in association with the American Repertory Theater, announced the extension Thursday.

The Tennessee Williams play was initially scheduled to close Jan. 5 at the Booth Theatre in Manhattan. Previews began Sept. 5 and the show officially opened Sept. 26.

The production stars Cherry Jones as domineering, former southern belle Amanda Wingfield; Zachary Quinto as her hardworking, hen-pecked son Tom; Celia Keenan-Bolger as her painfully shy daughter Laura; and Brian J. Smith as Jim, the nice-guy gentleman caller for whom everyone has high expectations.
