LOS ANGELES, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Michael Bolton says "Dancing With The Stars" judge Bruno Tonioli should "search his soul" after he panned Bolton's routine as the "worst jive in 11 seasons."

Bolton's performance Monday, which got him booted during the second week of the season, earned him a total of 12 points out of a possible 30 -- 5 points from Len Goodman, 4 points from Carrie Ann Inaba and only 3 points from Tonioli, who said the Grammy-winning singer's performance was "the worst jive in 11 seasons," adding that he did it "very, very, very badly."

Bolton said he asked Tonioli for an apology once, but he won't ask again.

"Bruno should search his soul for what he is doing on that show," Bolton said, adding his critique was "mean spirited," People magazine reported Friday.

"I don't wish to pressure the show … I don't blame them. Nor do I wish ABC to put any pressure on him. I think it's a personal epiphany (Tonioli) may have to have. I asked for it in one interview and I felt he should express a public apology to me. I think asking once is enough, and I don't want my friends, fans and supporters to ask for it. It is what it is," Bolton said.

The worst part was having his mother in the audience, Bolton said. "It broke my heart for her. She was very angry. It's a good thing that there was an entire dance floor between her and Bruno."

Bolton still loves the show, however.

"The producers and the people who work for them are phenomenal at making you feel as comfortable as possible," Bolton added.

The producers defended the judge, saying he was only doing his job.
