'Bruges,' 'Road' earn multiple Globe nods

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- "Burn After Reading," "Happy-Go-Lucky," "In Bruges," "Mamma Mia" and "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" were all nominated for Golden Globes in Los Angeles Thursday.

The five films will compete in the best comedy or musical film category.

In the running for the best drama film Globe are "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Frost/Nixon," "The Reader," "Revolutionary Road" and "Slumdog Millionaire."

Nominated for the best actor in a drama film globe are Leonardo DiCaprio for "Revolutionary Road," Frank Langella for "Frost/Nixon," Sean Penn for "Milk," Brad Pitt for "Button" and "Mickey Rourke for "The Wrestler."

The nominees for the best actor in a comedy or musical film are Javier Bardem for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, both for "In Bruges," James Franco for "Pineapple Express" and Dustin Hoffman for "Last Chance Harvey."

Shortlisted for the best supporting actor in a film prize are "Tropic Thunder" co-stars Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr., Ralph Fiennes of "The Duchess," Philip Seymour Hoffman of "Doubt" and the late Heath Ledger of "The Dark Knight."

Competing for the best director of a film honor are Danny Boyle for "Slumdog Millionaire," Stephen Daldry for "The Reader," David Fincher for "Button," Ron Howard for "Frost/Nixon" and Sam Mendes for "Revolutionary Road."
