LONDON, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- A British couple denies charges they stole personal items while working at David and Victoria Beckham's Hertfordshire mansion.

The Beckhams now live most of the year in Los Angeles.

The Times of London said Eric and June Emmett were arrested last week on suspicion of theft and released on police bail.

The Emmetts were picked up after Tony and Jackie Adams -- pop singer and fashion designer Victoria Beckham's parents -- allegedly saw articles they believe belong to their daughter and soccer star son-in-law for sale on eBay.

However, the Emmetts are denying allegations they stole clothing and other items from the place where they worked as housekeepers and tried to sell the goods online.

"No comment," The Times said Eric Emmett told reporters who flocked to his home. "What

is in the papers is fabricated nonsense. Totally fabricated, 99 percent of it is totally untrue."

An eBay representative told the newspaper the company is cooperating with the investigation.

"If it transpires that our site was being used to list stolen goods then we will work with the police to press for the harshest penalties," the spokesman told The Times.
