ABC Daytime raises $300K for B'way Cares

NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- The fourth annual ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS show at Town Hall in New York City raised $300,000 last weekend.

The event brought the cumulative total earned to more than $1 million since the show's inception in 2005.

The total was announced Tuesday by Brian Frons, president of Daytime Disney-ABC Television Group, and Tom Viola, executive director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Sponsored in part by ABC Daytime, SoapNet and The Walt Disney Company, the show was presided over by Cameron Mathison and headlined by Susan Lucci.

Appearing at the event were stars from "All My Children," "One Life to Live," "General Hospital" and "The View."

The evening featured the ABC daytime stars singing and dancing in a variety of musical numbers, ABC said. Sierra Boggess and Sean Palmer from the hit Disney musical "The Little Mermaid" also made a special appearance.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is an industry-based, not-for-profit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization.
