Lubbock's father demands 2nd inquest

LONDON, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- The father of a man who died at the house of British actor and entertainer Michael Barrymore has called for a new inquest into his death.

Stuart Lubbock, 31, was found dead in a swimming pool at Barrymore's former home in Roydon in 2001. While police investigated, no one was charged in Lubbock's death.

A 2002 inquest after the first police probe resulted in a coroner recording an open verdict, meaning there was insufficient evidence to rule on Lubbock's death.

Barrymore and two other men who were at the party the night Lubbock died were arrested on suspicion of serious sexual assault and murder last year after a second police investigation. However, the three were subsequently released without charge.

"The police carried out a new investigation and found out more information. This time they had enough information to arrest Barrymore -- they didn't do that after the first investigation," Lubbock's father, Terry, told the Sun newspaper.

"Why hasn't this new information been made public? Why hasn't there been a new inquest? There's new information and that might mean a different verdict at an inquest. ... Justice isn't being done for my son."
