Costliest celebrity divorces ranked

NEW YORK, April 13 (UPI) -- The details haven't been ironed out yet, but it looks like the Michael and Juanita Jordan split will be the most expensive U.S. celebrity divorce in 25 years.

Jordan made $350 million from the Chicago Bulls, product endorsements and other business ventures, from the time they married in 1989 until they called it quits, Forbes said Friday. If Juanita Jordan gets half, that could be more than $150 million -- or what Neil Diamond paid to his ex-wife, Marcia Murphey.

Steven Spielberg, worth more than $3 billion, handed over $100 million when he split from Amy Irving. Harrison Ford coughed up $85 million to divorce Melissa Mathison. Kevin Costner's separation from Cindy Silva reportedly separated him from $80 million.

Rounding out Forbes' Top 10 divorces are: Paul McCartney and Heather Mills, $60 million; James Cameron and Linda Hamilton, $50 million; Michael and Diandra Douglas, $45 million; Lionel and Diane Richie, $20 million; and Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, between $15 million and $25 million.

These famous ex-couples averaged 12.5 years together, Forbes said.

While divorces can be contentious in money matters, the large payout didn't seem to bother Diamond, who says his ex-wife of 25 years was "worth every penny."
