Insults with honors at British Q Awards

LONDON, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- British civility flew out the window Monday night at the Q Awards ceremony in London, where Oasis and the Arctic Monkeys took top honors.

In accepting Oasis' best act in the world award, classic songwriter award winner Noel Gallagher made it clear his legendary feud with brother, Liam, had not taken a holiday, Sky News reported.

Gallagher said his brother was absent because he was "at the zoo" where "monkeys are bringing their kids to go and have a look at him."

He went on, "I guess I really should thank our kid for singing all these great songs -- but as he's not here, (expletive) him."

Arctic Monkeys vocalist Alex Turner accepted his band's people's choice and best album awards with a slam to idol award winners, Take That.

"A lot of people make jokes about having awards for no reason just for the sake of having awards, and pretending they were good when they weren't," he said. "I'm not old enough to know a lot of them but even I know that Take That were bollocks."

Other award winners included Gnarls Barkley, The Killers, Primal Scream, Manic Street Preachers and Muse.
