NEW YORK, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- U.S. guitarist Esteban, whose 26th album "The Best of Esteban" is out now, has taken a long road to mainstream fame.
The New York Daily News talked to the 58-year old guitarist, who is known for his classical and contemporary rhythms. His new CD is the first he has marketed through regular outlets. Previously, Esteban sold millions of CDs through QVC and HSN infomercials.
Esteban told the Daily News about how he came to know his idol, Andres Segovia by writing notes to Segovia and sending them to hotels where he thought the classical guitarist might be staying.
The notes reportedly said, "My life is meaningless unless I can study with you."
After learning Segovia was staying in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, Esteban pretended to be delivering a package to Segovia. Upon arriving at the musician's hotel room, Esteban convinced Segovia to give him lessons.
