'Bionic Woman' to make a TV comeback

HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- The 1970s U.S. television series "The Bionic Woman" is poised for a comeback on NBC.

The project involves "Battlestar Galactica" executive producer David Eick and screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis, who tells Daily Variety to look for a "complete reconceptualization" of the story.

"The Bionic Woman" was a spinoff of the "Six Million Dollar Man" series and starred Lindsay Wagner as mechanical superwoman Jamie Sommers.

The new series will lean more heavily on the role of women in contemporary society with the idea of using artificial technology "as a metaphor for what contemporary women sometimes feel is necessary to do everything that needs to be done," Eick said.

No word on when the series will air or who will play the lead.
