Brickell leads New Bohemians return

NEW YORK, July 25 (UPI) -- Edie Brickell & New Bohemians have never stopped playing music together -- even though it's been 16 years since their last album.

The group, best-known for its 1989 hit "What I Am" became a part-time concern after Brickell married singer-songwriter Paul Simon in 1992.

"I knew my babies would only be babies once," she said, but she'd also reconvene with her bandmates on periodic trips back to her native Texas, which led to the new "Stranger Things."

"I could go down about three, four times a year," says Brickell, who has three children -- aged 13, 11 and 8 -- with Simon. "We just kept getting together and jamming and writing songs and felt we'd one day make the record that really expressed the band's character."

Brickell hopes New Bohemians will tour to support the album but no plans have yet been announced.
