Sixties sex icon to film her life story

LONDON, May 14 (UPI) -- Approaching her 60th birthday, British-born actress and singer Jane Birkin has decided to make a movie of her 40-year career as a sex icon.

Birkin told The Sunday Times of London that she will write, direct and star in the biopic entitled "Boxes."

The film, to be announced this week, will include a cast of Birkin's friends and relatives. Her first husband, musician John Barry, will be played by John Hurt and her mother will be played by Geraldine Chaplin.

Exhibitionism has been a hallmark of Birkin's career. She appeared completely naked in the 1967 film "Blow-Up" and recorded a love song with her second husband Serge Gainsbourg in 1969 that was banned by the BBC.

In 1986, Gainsbourg appeared in bed scenes alongside the couple's daughter, Charlotte, in a movie about incest. This led audiences to believe the screen relationship might have been replicated in real life, the Times article said.

Birkin has been honored by both England and France. She was also the inspiration for a Hermes handbag.
