Young actress gunned down

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- A young actress who had a recurring role as a former gang-banger on CBS' "Judging Amy" has been killed in a Los Angeles gang shooting.

Tara Correa-McMullen, 16, was with friends in front of an apartment complex in Inglewood, near Los Angeles, last week when she was gunned down -- an innocent victim caught amid a gang dispute, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

Tara's friends and family said she was not directly involved in gangs but had recently been hanging out with a "tough crowd."

The actress was 14 when she started appearing as Graciela Reyes on "Judging Amy." She appeared this summer with Martin Lawrence in "Rebound" as one of his middle school basketball players.

Police said they have no suspects and are still unsure whether the shooting was a drive-by or walk-up, the Times said.

As CBS wound up "Judging Amy" last year, Tara's character was killed.

"This is life as art," Cindy Osbrink, whose agency had represented Tara off and on for the last couple of years, told the Times. "Needless to say, we are devastated. She had everything going for her."
