Ninja Turtles coming back to theaters

LOS ANGELES, July 18 (UPI) -- The heroes in a half-shell otherwise known as "The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" are getting ready for a gritty, big screen comeback.

The Weinstein Co. signed a deal with Warner Bros. to distribute the first all computer-generated Ninja Turtle feature set for release in early 2007, Empire magazine said Monday.

The last New Line live-action Ninja Turtle feature came out in 1993. The three New Line films grossed a combined $256 million in the United States.

The Weinstein Co. said the new animated movie will be aimed at a PG audience and will more closely follow the comic book series.

The Warner deal marks the first studio partnership outside of Disney for The Weinstein Co., Empire said.
