MIAMI, April 5 (UPI) -- MTV announced Tuesday it will conduct its annual Video Music Awards in Miami this summer for the second consecutive year.
The live Aug. 28 broadcast will originate in the AmericanAirlines Arena, as it did last summer, which was the first time in the ceremony's 21-year history it wasn't held in New York or Los Angeles.

Miami Mayor Manny Diaz said he was "ecstatic" the gala was returning for a second year in a row, the Miami Herald reported.
"Last year's VMAs raised our summer heat to a new level of intensity," he said.
