Pink Floyd's The Wall is Broadway-bound

NEW YORK, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Pink Floyd's rock opera "The Wall" is reportedly headed for Broadway.

Billboard reports an agreement between Miramax Films and Thomas Mottola, head of Casablanca Records, for development of the musical. Roger Waters of Pink Floyd has agreed to write the book and arrange the music for the production.

"The Wall," which began life in 1979 as a double album and a series of concert performances, was filmed in 1982 and performed as a stage show in Berlin. The Recording Industry Association of America ranks the album as the third best-selling ever.

"Now I can write in some laughs, notable by their absence in the movie," Waters told Billboard.
