American Award nominees announced

NASHVILLE, July 16 (UPI) -- Loretta Lynn and Mindy Smith led the field with three nominations each for the 2004 Americana Honors and Awards show.

Lynn was nominated for Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for her album "Van Lear Rose" and the song "Portland, Ore." Smith was nominated for Performer of the Year, Song of the Year and New/Emerging Artist of the Year for her album "One Moment More" and the song "Come to Jesus."

The other nominees for Album of the Year are Rodney Crowell for "Fate's Right Hand" and Slaid Cleaves for "Wishbones." Crowell and Cleaves are also up for Song of the Year for the title songs from their albums.

The other nominees for Artist of the Year are Allison Moorer, Jim Lauderdale and Patty Griffin. Jerry Douglas, Kenny Vaughan, Sam Bush and Will Kimbrough are up for Instrumentalist of the Year.

In addition to Smith, the nominees for New/Emerging Artist of the Year are Adrienne Young, Greencards and Old Crow Medicine Show.

The Americana Awards will be presented in September in Nashville.
