O'Toole loves working with younger actors

NEW YORK, May 12 (UPI) -- Screen legend Peter O'Toole says working with actors such as Brad Pitt and Eric Bana in the new epic "Troy" helps keep him feeling young.

"For me, the greatest joy I have is to work with young people because then I can grab all their energy," the 71-year-old actor told reporters in New York. "I'm like a vampire, and to see the young ones coming through and doing splendid, it makes my heart tick."

Asked if he sees working as an actor as a bid for immortality -- similar to that which the heroes of "Troy" pursue -- the "Lawrence of Arabia" star explained: "I meet people and they talk to me about things I've forgotten and they remind me. ... As I creak into antiquity, it gets better. It is a delight. I hadn't thought of it in those terms ever. But there is a kind of immortality. However, it is a small amount. It's not the most important thing in the world, but it is important enough."

Loosely based on Homer's "Illiad," "Troy" opens Friday.
