'Return of the King' reigns at Baftas

LONDON, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Peter Jackson's "The Return of the King" was the top winner at the British Academy Film and Television Arts ceremony Feb. 15 in London, receiving five awards.

Nominated in 12 categories, the final film in the trilogy based on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic, won for best picture, cinematography, adapted screenplay, special effects and film of the year as voted by the audience.

"Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World" won four awards, including best director for Peter Weir.

Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson won the best actor and actress awards, respectively, for their performances in Sofia Coppola's "Lost In Translation."

"Cold Mountain" went into the awards with 13 nominations, but walked away with two. Renee Zellweger won for best supporting actress and the film won for best music.

The best supporting actor Bafta went to Bill Nighy from "Love Actually."

The Baftas, Britain's most prestigious film awards, was held at the Odeon cinema in London's Leicester Square.
