Dating younger not for Keaton

NEW YORK, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Diane Keaton said in New York she understands the obvious appeal of dating a younger man, but insists it is not for her.

Keaton was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award Thursday for her portrayal of a divorced playwright torn between an insufferable playboy (Jack Nicholson)and a sweet young doctor (Keanu Reeves) in the romantic comedy "Something's Gotta Give."

"I once went there, but I have to say it was kind of a strange thing for me," Woody Allen's ex told reporters recently. "I didn't really like it that much and I don't think he liked it either. It was too odd."

Asked if she thinks it didn't work out because society seems to expect the man should be older than the woman in a relationship, Keaton replied: "I don't think it is. There is that aspect of it, of course... But I think just the intimacy and the fact that there is so much that you can't really share with each other. In some way the experiences that you've been through that they can't understand because they're not there. You're separated by so many things."
