British thriller debuts on internet

LONDON, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- The first film officially launched over the Internet, "This is Not a Love Song," was to make its debut Friday.

The BBC said the low-budget British film cost about $1 million to make and was shot in less than two weeks. A thriller, the flick is centered around two fugitives on the run from a group of vigilante farmers.

Likened to "Deliverance" and "Straw Dogs," the movie focuses on two fugitives trying to escape a group of vigilante farmers. It stars David Bradley and is written by Simon Beaufoy, whose credits include "The Full Monty."

The film will be available for streaming or for download from the film's website at a cost of around $6. It also will be shown in a London theater.
