Broderick, Lane returning to Broadway

NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The New Year's Eve hoopla at New York's Times Square will have an added impetus this year -- the return of Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane to Broadway.

The New York Post reported Monday the two theatrical giants are returning to "The Producers" and Lane, who plays the schlock showman Max Bialystock, said he and Broderick want to help ring in 2004 onstage.

"We've been talking about it, and I'm certain that it will happen," Lane told The Post. "And I had nothing to do on New Year's Eve anyway."

Last week, The Post reported Broadway's dynamic duo, who broke records and reaped an armful of Tony awards in 2001, would reprise their famous roles for a three-month run starting in January.
