Spielberg's spokesman refutes NYC move

NEW YORK, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- On his weekly radio show, New York City Mayor Bloomberg said director Steven Spielberg told him he's considering leaving Los Angeles for New York.

"The last time I talked to Spielberg, he said he and his wife wanted to move here," Bloomberg said. "They have a house, I know, out in the Hamptons, and they want to make movies here."

However, Spielberg's spokesman Marvin Levy told The New York Daily News that the director has no current plans to move east.

Spielberg has long kept an apartment in Manhattan, according to Levy.

"Steven loves New York," Levy told the news. "He's there so much. But as long as his kids are in school out here, he's not going to move to New York in the near future."

Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw have six children.
