Kuwait asks continued F/A-18 support

WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Kuwait has asked the United States for continuing logistics support, contractor maintenance and technical services in support its F/A-18 aircraft.

The estimated cost for the services -- as well as associated equipment, parts and training -- is an estimated $100 million, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency told Congress.

"This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country which has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East," the agency said.

"The government of Kuwait needs this logistics support, contractor maintenance, and technical services to maintain the operational capabilities of its aircraft."

The principal contractors will be Boeing in St. Louis;, Kay and Associates in Buffalo Grove, Ill.; Industrial Acoustics Company in Winchester, England; and General Dynamics in Fairfax, Va.
