Feb. 5 (UPI) -- L-3 Communications has been awarded a contract for electro-optical and infrared sensors and features for the U.S. Air Force.
The deal, announced Friday by the Department of Defense, is valued at $90 million under the terms of an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract.
The agreement provides the U.S. Air Force with electro-optical and infrared sensors and features, along with an option to purchase MX series turrets and features. The items enhance capabilities for stability and long-range performance of full-motion imaging across the visible and infrared spectrums.
Work on the contract will occur in Burlington, Canada, and is expected to be completed by December 2022, with a built-in option to extend the deal to December 2027.
Funding will be determined with each individual order, the Pentagon said.
The Air Force has obligated $10,140 to L-3 Communications from fiscal 2018 operations and maintenance funds upon the award with the first order under the contract.
