GE contracted for repair services on Super Hornet, Growler aircraft

Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support has awarded General Electric with a contract for services in support of the F/A-18 E-F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler.

The $74 million contract, announced by the Department of Defense on Tuesday, is a six-month contract calling for "performance-based logistics requirements," repairs and program support.

Specifically, the contract taps General Electric to support the repair of 773 F414 engine components of the F/A-18 E and F, as well as the EA-18G aircraft.

The work, for the most part, will be completed at a variety of General Electric supplier locations, with some also expected to be done at the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast in Jacksonville, Fla.

Work on the contract is expected to be completed by June 2018, with the Navy obligating fiscal 2018 working capital funds to GE as orders are issued and none of the funds expiring at the end of the contract ordering period.
