July 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. National Guard Bureau is to receive mission training and support services from Battelle for combating weapons of mass destruction, the company announced on Wednesday.
The support, provided under a 35-month Defense Technical Information Center, Homeland Defense & Security Technical Area Task award, will include provision of technical subject matter expertise to study, analyze, advise, research, and develop deliverables to advance the NGB weapons of mass destruction mission.
Included will be chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives, or CBRNE, and WMD elimination exercises and after-action reports, developing and conducting training courses, and assessing training effectiveness.
Battelle will also provide technical and analytical assessments to the National Guard Bureau's WMD Division to enhance survivability, safety, and sustainment operations during an intentional and unintentional release of CBRNE materials during natural or man-made disasters within the United States and U.S. territories

Battelle, which provides services for government and commercial customers, said the contract is worth about $13.8 million.
