TeleCommunications Systems continues USMC satellite services

MELVILLE, N.Y., Sept. 29 (UPI) -- A Comtech Telecommunications subsidiary is to continue providing managed satellite services to the U.S. Marine Corps.

The services -- Ku satellite bandwidth, terrestrial support and 24-hour support -- provided to the Marine Corps' Tactical Satellite Communications Network continues through the exercise of a third-year contract option by the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency.

The option is worth $14.4 million and covers the period from August 1, 2016 through July 31, 2017. Work will be conducted by Comtech Telecommunications subsidiary TeleCommunication Systems Inc., which is based in Maryland.

General Services Administration Inc., was one of eight companies to win a prime position on a $2.6 billion Custom SATCOM Solutions contract vehicle under a program by DISA and the U.S. General Services Administration.

The exercise of the third-year option brings contract funding received by TeleCommunication Systems for the program to $58.4 million.
