Sikorsky given $387 million Army contract for Black Hawk helicopters

STRATFORD, Conn., March 9 (UPI) -- Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation has been awarded a $387 million contract to manufacture 35 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for the U.S. Army.

Sikorsky, bought by Lockheed Martin in 2015, is expected to complete production by the end of 2016 at its facility in Stratford, Conn., the Pentagon announced Tuesday.

The amount of $387,181,200 was paid when the contract was awarded. Sikorsky's UH-60M is equipped with two T700-GE-701D engines. The helicopter sports a maximum cruise speed of about 174 miles per hour and a maximum range of about 317 miles.
