NEW YORK, March 6 (UPI) -- L-3 Communications has acquired Virginia-headquartered Data Tactics Corporation, enhancing its national security capabilities portfolio.
The acquisition of Data Tactics, a provider of Big Data analytics and cloud computing solution services to the U.S. Department of Defense, is effective immediately, L-3 said.
Data Tactics now operates as L-3 Data Tactics.
"Data Tactics adds key capabilities in Big Data analytics to L-3's portfolio, a very attractive and specialized domain that immediately enhances L-3's existing National Security Solutions business and supports its growth as a solutions integrator for the national security and international markets," said Michael T. Strianese, L-3's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "This acquisition supports our strategy of providing differentiated technologies and solutions that enable market share gains and distinguish L-3 from our competitors."
L-3 Data Tactics has about 200 employees -- data scientists, engineers, architects and developers -- most of whom possess U.S. government security clearances. The business is expected to generate sales of about $50 million this calendar year.
Financial terms of the transaction were not immediately available.
