LOS ANGELES, June 25 (UPI) -- A California police department will be able to transmit live video images from a helicopter to multiple sites through an integrated downlink system.
The system being employed by the Hawthorne Police Department is from Helinet Technologies, which provides aviation technology to military and government entities.
The Helinet-developed downlink uses the transmission technology on the HPD helicopter and the receive capability at three receiver sites – including a hand-held devices for deployed officers.
Helinet said it is training the police department to use the system, with funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's State Homeland Security Program, to help local law enforcement and first responders protect against, and respond to, terrorist incidents and other catastrophic events.

Keith Kauffman.
