Northrop wins weapons system support work

HERNDON, Va., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Northrop Grumman has been given a seven-year U.S. Air Force indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity contract for support of U.S. military weapons systems.

Under the Design and Engineering Support Program award Northrop, along with 25 other recipients, will compete for task orders toward dealing with sustainment, performance and life-cycle costs.

The issuing authority for DESP III is the Air Force Material Command but all U.S. Defense Department agencies can avail themselves of it.

"Our sustained performance and innovative logistics, coupled with more than 20 years of supporting earlier versions of this contract, were paramount in our selection for one of the DESP III awards," said David Gustafson, DESP III program manager, Northrop Grumman Technical Services.

"(The Department of Defense) and our nation's warfighters will now continue to have a partner with the highest level of integrity committed to unparalleled performance in keeping our nation's weapon systems mission-ready."

The total value of the DESP III contract vehicle is $1.9 million.

"Our heritage with supplier and subcontractor management across many programs -- to include those at our logistics and sustainment centers of excellence supporting the three Air Force logistics centers -- strategically positions us to better partner with our customer," said John Parker, director, global logistics and modernization, Northrop Grumman Technical Services.
