Sypris gets follow-on to support F-16s

TAMPA, Fla., March 12 (UPI) -- U.S. company Sypris Electronics received a follow-on contract to provide the F-16 fighter aircraft computer technology with its electronic assemblies.

Sypris said Thursday it received the contract order from Honeywell International Defense and Space Electronic Systems. Under the follow-on award Sypris will provide the F-16 Digital Flight Control Computer with its electronic assemblies technologies.

Sypris says the approximately $6 million contract is part of an effort to maintain and extend the life cycle of the F-16 aircraft fleet located at Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force base in Utah.

"We are gaining traction as one of the premier end-to-end manufacturing services providers in the aerospace and defense communities," John Walsh, Sypris Electronics president, said in a statement.

"Sypris Electronics is uniquely qualified to perform full-spectrum manufacturing support from product concept and design through manufacturing and depot."
